Sami Valimaki ends '25 season with big win at RSM Classic

Sami Valimaki ends '25 season with big win at RSM Classic

Sami Valimaki wrapped up the PGA Tour season Sunday by becoming the first player from Finland to win a tour event at the RSM Classic in St. Simons Island, Ga.

The solo third-round leader, Valimaki birdied the par-5 15th hole at Sea Island Golf Club's Seaside Course to break a tie with Max McGreevy, who went out early and posted a 7-under 63 to get to 22-under 260.

Valimaki proceeded to par his way home and sign for a 66, a four-round score of 23-under 259.

Not only did the win secure Valimaki a two-year exemption on tour, it catapulted him 23 spots to No. 51 in the FedEx Cup Fall points standings. Nos. 51-60 in points qualify for the first two big-money signature events of 2026.

That was also reason to smile for McGreevy, whose Sunday surge into second place was projected to push him to No. 60 in the standings.

Ricky Castillo did McGreevy one better by firing a final-round 62, rocketing him to third at 21 under. However, he was projected to finish the points race No. 102, just outside the top 100 who are guaranteed to retain full tour status for next season.

Colombia's Nico Echavarria fired a 65 to get to 19 under for the week, and his tie for fourth with Lee Hodges (66) and South Korean Si woo Kim (66) boosted Echavarria from 62nd to 55th in points, entering him into those first two signature events.

Jameis Winston catches wild trick-play TD before Jahmyr Gibbs leads Lions comeback over Giants

Jameis Winston catches wild trick-play TD before Jahmyr Gibbs leads Lions comeback over Giants

Jameis Winston did it all Sunday afternoon in Detroit ... but it was not enough.

Winston, in his second start of the season for an injured Jaxson Dart, threw two touchdowns and caught a third himself at Ford Field against the Detroit Lions. But somehow he was upstaged by Jahmyr Gibbs and the Lions, who came storming back to pull off a 34-27 overtime win over the New York Giants.

While they didn't get the job done, Winston's trick-play in the fourth quarter turned heads.

Winston faked a handoff up the middle and then pitched the ball off to wide receiver Gunner Olszewski before taking up the left side of the field, seemingly unnoticed. Winston, after waving his hand in the air frantically to get Olszewski's attention, caught the pass and then shook off linebacker Derrick Barnes before walking into the end zone.

That put the Giants up 27-17 at the time.

That lead didn't hold. Gibbs broke through several Giants defenders just a few plays later and rattled off a 49-yard touchdown run. Winston threw a bad interception on his first play out after that touchdown run, which gave the Lions the ball back.

Winston came up with another incredible play later in the fourth quarter. On a deep third down, Winston somehow avoided a sack, scrambled and then found Theo Johnson 39 yards downfield to keep their drive alive.

The Giants got all the way down inside the 10-yard line, but Winston failed to find the end zone on fourth down. That gave the Lions the ball back with just under three minutes to go.

Jake Bates drilled a 59-yarder to tie the game up with just under 30 seconds to go, which eventually forced overtime.

Then, on the first play of the extra period, Gibbs erupted for a 69-yard run after making it through the Giants' line untouched to give the Lions their first lead of the game.

The Lions quickly stopped the Giants after that to escape with the win.

Jared Goff went 28-of-42 for 279 yards with two touchdowns and an interception in the win for Detroit (7-4). Gibbs had 219 rushing yards and three total touchdowns, and Amon-Ra St. Brown had 149 receiving yards and a score on nine catches.

Winston finished 18-of-36 passing for 336 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. His first touchdown of the day came on New York's opening drive when he found Wan'Dale Robinson for a 39-yard score. He hit Isaiah Hodgins for a 12-yard touchdown pass before halftime, too.

Winston spent last season with the Cleveland Browns, and then signed a two-year, $8 million deal with New York. He took over for Dart last weekend after Dart landed in concussion protocol; the Giants fell 27-20 to the Green Bay Packers.

— Yahoo Sports (@YahooSports)November 23, 2025

Tyrone Tracy had 62 rushing yards on 20 carries to lead the Giants, and Robinson had 156 receiving yards and a score on nine catches. The Giants (2-10) have now lost six straight and were the first NFL team officially eliminated from the postseason race.

Though Dart is sure to get his job back when he's healthy — the team took him with the No. 25 overall pick in the draft earlier this year, and he's looked solid after winning the starting job over Russell Wilson a few weeks ago — this stretch for Winston has been incredibly fun. That has to count for something.

Israel says Hezbollah chief of staff killed in first strike on Beirut in months

The Israeli military says it killed Hezbollah's second most senior figure in the first air strikes in months on southern Beirut.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) called Haytham Ali Tabatabai, Hezbollah's Chief of Staff, "a key operative and veteran in the terrorist organization."

"The strike was intended to prevent the organization from further strengthening its capabilities and to deliver a precise blow to those who attempt to harm the State of Israel," said IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir in a statement after the attack.

Hezbollah said the killing of Tabatabai was "a treacherous Israeli attack" on the Haret Hreik neighborhood in Beirut's southern suburbs, according to a statement Sunday.

Five people were killed and 28 injured in the attack, according to the Lebanese Health Ministry.

Images from the scene showed smoke coming from the fourth or fifth floor of an apartment building in a crowded part of southern Beirut.

The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the IDF had struck "in the heart of Beirut, targeting Hezbollah's Chief of Staff, who led the organization's buildup and armament efforts."

Netanyahu ordered the strike based on the recommendation of the Minister of Defense and the IDF Chief of Staff, his office said.

"We will continue to act forcefully to prevent any threat to the residents of the north and to the State of Israel," said Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz, adding: "Anyone who raises a hand against Israel — his hand will be cut off."

The last strikes the IDF acknowledged carrying out in the Lebanese capital of Beirut occurred in early-June, when Israel said it targeted underground drone production facilities belonging to Hezbollah. Since then, Israel has refrained from striking Beirut, even as it has carried out frequent attacks in southern Lebanon, considered a Hezbollah stronghold.

An Israeli strike on southern Beirut in September 2024 killed Hezbollah's long-time leader Hassan Nasrallah, and Israeli strikes have hollowed out the group's military leadership. Israel alsoblew up pagersand walkie-talkies used by Hezbollah members, killing dozens of people.

A ceasefire was agreed through US mediation a year ago, but Israeli forces have continued to strike Hezbollah infrastructure and fighters in southern Lebanon and the Bekaa valley.

The United StatesdesignatedTabatabai as a terrorist in 2016, saying he was a key Hezbollah military leader "who has commanded the group's special forces in both Syria and Yemen."

The US Rewards for Justice program offered up to $5 million for information on Tabatabai.

Under the ceasefire agreement, Hezbollah is meant to surrender its heavy weapons and withdraw all personnel from south of the Litani river.

There has been little progress on disarmament, leading Israeli officials to warn that military action will be stepped up unless the Lebanese government moves to curb Hezbollah.

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun accused Israel earlier this month of sparing "no effort to show its rejection of any negotiated settlement between the two countries."

CNN's Eyad Kourdi contributed to the report.

November 23, 2025

The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has been quietly disbanded with eight months left in its charter, according to the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) director.

OPM Director Scott KuportoldReutersthat DOGE—the sweeping cost-cutting effort led by billionaire Elon Musk thatdominated the first monthsof President Donald Trump's second term—"doesn't exist," adding that most of the office's functions have been absorbed by OPM, the federal government's human resources agency.

Kupor said that DOGE is no longer the "centralized entity" it once was when Trump appointedMuskto lead the agency in January, the news agency reported on Sunday.

Later Sunday, Kupor appeared to take issue with the Reuters story, without challenging any of its facts.

"The truth is: DOGE may not have centralized leadership under the [U.S. DOGE Service] But, the principles of DOGE remain alive and well: de-regulation; eliminating fraud, waste and abuse; re-shaping the federal workforce; making efficiency a first-class citizen," Kuporwrote on X.

He added that the OPM and the Office of Management and Budget would "institutionalize" the changes made by DOGE.

Musk's collaboration with the Trump Administration drew scrutiny for the access he was granted throughout the government in his role as a "special advisor," and the wide-ranging impact of the cuts made to everything fromforeign aid to Social Security.

Musk and his team quickly began cuttingfederal grants,mass-firingfederal workers, shuttering entireagencies, and canceling contracts. He positioned his staff throughout government agencies, seeking access to sensitive datain the name of making the government more "efficient."

For months, Musk reiterated his overarching goal of reducing the deficit by $1 trillion by September 30, before a very public feud withTrumpover his "One Big Beautiful Bill" led to a very public breakdown in ties.

Musk's exit had long been expected. As a special government employee, he had a 130-day contract that expired onFriday, May 30.

By the time he departed, Musk had not come close to achieving the $1 trillion savings he had projected. DOGE's website claims it has saved $214 billion at the federal level, but multiple reports show the department inflated, rewrote, or overstated thesesavings.

The White House did not respond to TIME's request for comment.

Since Musk's departure from government, dozens of staffers—including the core leadership team—havefollowed the Tesla CEO out the door.In October, 45 staffers were still employed at DOGE, and the officeremained openduring the government shutdown, according to a memo released at the time.

Many of those who remained have since taken on new roles across different departments within the executive branch. Some high-profile staffers joined Trump's new National Design Studio, led by Airbnbco-founder Joe Gebbia. Others have taken roles as chief technology officer at the Department of Health and Human Services, as an official overseeing foreign assistance at the State Department, and as chief of the Office of Naval Research.

Some of DOGE's initiatives, including the government-wide hiring freeze, have also ended, according to Kupor's interview with Reuters.

The OPM directed TIME to Kupor's Sunday tweet when asked for comment.
