Factbox-Half a million lose power as storms batter US Midwest, Mid-Atlantic and South

March 16 (Reuters) - More than 536,000 homes and businesses were ‌without power on Tuesday ‌as severe storms battered the U.S. Midwest ​and Mid-Atlantic region, according to data from PowerOutage.us.

Severe weather hits the Mid-Atlantic region in Washington, D.C.

Pennsylvania was the hardest hit, with about 125,000 ‌outages - roughly 1.9% ⁠of the state's 6.8 million customers, according to ⁠the data.

The most severely impacted utility was a unit of ​Consumers Energy ​in Michigan, ​where around 92,770 ‌homes and businesses were without service.

"Six hundred crews are hard at work and will continue through the night to ensure ‌all communities we serve ​get back online," ​Consumers ​Energy said in a ‌post on X.
